Make practice questions from a textbook chapter

Most textbooks give you a handful of end-of-chapter questions, and once you have done them, they are spent. Generating a fresh set from the same chapter gives you as many attempts as you need, each with an explanation.

How it works

  1. Get the chapter in

Upload the chapter PDF, or photograph the pages (up to 10 images per material). Scanned pages are read directly.

  2. Generate a set per chapter

5 to 50 questions at your chosen difficulty. One set per chapter keeps the coverage dense.

  3. Re-test until it holds

Retake the set after a few days. Accuracy per attempt is recorded, so improvement is visible rather than assumed.

Spacing beats cramming, and this makes spacing practical

The reason spaced practice is not more common is logistical, not motivational: it needs a supply of questions you have not just memorised the answers to. A generated set solves that — a second set from the same chapter asks different things about the same material.

Work chapter by chapter rather than book by book. A set drawn from one chapter tests that chapter properly; a set drawn from a whole book samples it and misses most of it.

Mixed difficulty is worth using once you are past first pass. It keeps easy recall questions in the set — which are the ones that confirm the basics are solid — while adding the applied questions that show whether you can use the material rather than recite it.

What you get

  • A fresh question set per chapter, as many as you need
  • Explanations that reference what the chapter actually said
  • Difficulty levels from beginner to advanced, or mixed
  • Accuracy tracking across repeat attempts of the same set
  • Works from scanned pages and photographs, not just digital text

Textbook to quiz — questions people ask

Can I upload a whole textbook?

Technically up to 100 MB per file, but you should not. Question quality depends on how densely the source covers one topic. Chapter by chapter is the right unit.

Will the questions match my exam style?

The formats are multiple choice and true/false, which is what most certification and university papers use. Difficulty is selectable, so you can tune how applied the questions are.

Is uploading a textbook allowed?

That depends on the licence of the book you own and the copyright rules where you are. Ace the Test stores your files under your account only and does not redistribute them, but the decision to upload copyrighted material is yours.
